From the Bog to the Moon

'From the Bog to the Moon' was a series of performances in a collaboration between myself and filmmaker / visual artist Alisha Doody. The performance consisted of screening Alisha's film 'Tribe', which looks at lesbian migration from urban to rural settings, and an audiovisual poetry performance of the poems in the chapbook 'From the Bog to the Moon'. A workshop / discussion element was included, to promote dialogue about the lived experience of rural-dwelling lesbians and other LGBT+ people.

First presented at the European Lesbian* Conference (EL*C)  in Vienna, 2018, we subsequently toured 'From the Bog to the Moon' to 3 locations in County Cork as part of an LGBTI+ Awareness raising initiative funded by Cork County Council. You can hear the introductory sound file - elements of a poem in three languages - here:

The publication was funded through a Leitrim County Council Arts Office grant, and my appreciation to them for the support. While I'm no longer resident in Leitrim, this marked a turning point in bringing my spoken word work back to a print format, with my first solo publication since 2001 (Nine Muses on a Night Out, Bradshaw Books, Cork, 2001).

The chapbook is available now at €11 inc. postage within Ireland or £12/€12 to UK or Europe)
